Teguise Market

Come and discover the hidden treasures of Teguise, the old capitol of the island, and visit the Sunday Market - the most authentic on the island and one of the largest of its kind in Europe.

As you navigate the old cobbled streets you will be able to enjoy some of the best architecture on the island, including the Parish church of San Miguel (1680) and iconic Guadalupe with its tall bell tower, The Spinola Palace, as well as two monasteries founded by the San Francisco Domingo (18th century).

The market is by far the best place to buy souvenirs and gifts to take home, radiating out from the central square and utilizing all the streets in the town. There are literally hundreds of stalls selling a huge variety of jewellery, ceramics and art, leather goods and clothing, toys, glass, and much more.

In the main square, you'll find a huge number of food stalls, as well as a local wine merchant who offers free tastings. Around the market, you'll come across artists drawing caricatures, musicians and a display of traditional folk music and dance.

You also have the opportunity to visit the Santa Barbara Castle, with its breath taking views, set high up on the top of the Guanapay Volcano. Take a journey into the past in the Pirate Museum inside, a must for the kids!
